Instead of being just a Church that welcomes and receives by keeping the doors open, let us try also to be a Church that finds new roads, that is able to step outside itself and go to those who do not attend Mass, to those who have quit or are indifferent.

Ann Garton, MSN, RN

Ann Garton is a Registered Nurse who recently volunteered in the "Jungle" refugee camp in Calais, France. Her firsthand experience working in solidarity with the refugees brings light to the ethical dilemma of border control vs. humanitarian support. Ann earned her Master Degree in Nursing from St. Ambrose University and has worked in acute care and outpatient settings, school nursing and administration. Currently she serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at St. Ambrose.
